Common questions
How thick does the B1 20W really cut?
Longer's spec sheet claims 15 mm basswood in one pass and 35 mm acrylic maximum. In our benchmarks a 10 × 10 cm square in 3 mm basswood takes about 9–15 min at 2–3 mm/s, so treat 8 mm basswood and 5 mm dark acrylic as practical limits in passes; 15 mm needs ideal settings and air assist.
Which B1 20W set should I buy?
On Longer's store in October 2026: Basic set $479.99, Pro set $649.99, Pro Max set $869.99, and Basic set plus IR module $799.99 for jewellery and metal marking. An extension kit ($109.99) and a touch screen ($39.99) are sold separately.
B1 20W or B1 30W?
Both share the 0.08 × 0.1 mm spot and the 450 × 440 mm area. The 30W basic set cost $90 more ($569.99), is rated for 20 mm basswood in one pass instead of 15 mm, and fills at ~39–88 mm/s in our tests against ~14–32 mm/s. If you engrave most of the time, the 20W is enough.
