Common questions
How thick can the D1 Pro 10W cut?
About 5 mm basswood. In xTool's own test, the 10W cut a square in 5 mm basswood at full power in 2 min 20 s, against 1 min 1 s for the 20W. Thin black acrylic works; hardwood above 5 mm needs several passes.
D1 Pro 10W or 20W?
Pick the 10W if you mostly engrave and cut thin stock occasionally: it is the gentler head for detail. Pick the 20W if cutting plywood is weekly work: xTool rates it 10 mm basswood plywood in one pass and measured it at about 2.3 times the 10W's cutting speed. New prices were typically about $100 apart ($599–$799 against $699–$899).
Should I buy a used D1 Pro 10W now that it is discontinued?
It can be good value. Check that the module reaches full power on a test cut, that the lens is clean and the belts are tight, and that the air-assist nozzle is included. xTool no longer sells the D1 Pro new, so spare parts may get harder to find.
