TL;DR
The P3 2IN1 is the version of Acmer's enclosed P3 built around a dual-laser head: a 10W blue diode for wood, leather and slate, and a 2W 1064 nm infrared source for bare metal and dark plastics, switched with one button. It keeps the Class 1 cabinet, CoreXY gantry at 800 mm/s, full-bed camera and 400 × 390 mm work area. The Basic Pack was $999 in October 2026; an infrared-only P3 without air pump was $799. It is an engraver first: Acmer rates 10 mm plywood as its maximum cut.

What makes this machine stand out
Hardware and workflow features worth understanding before you buy : not just wattage on a label.
Diode and infrared in one head
A 10W diode and a 2W 1064 nm infrared source share the same head and switch with one button, so wood and bare metal jobs run on the same machine.
0.02 mm infrared spot
Acmer gives a 0.02 × 0.02 mm spot for the infrared source, fine enough for small text on tags, rings and tools.
A large bed for metal batches
The 400 × 390 mm work area and full-bed camera let you lay out dozens of metal tags or cards in one job.
Our verdict
Ideal if you
The dual-laser P3 is the rare gantry machine that engraves wood and bare metal from one head, inside a Class 1 cabinet with a full-bed camera. For a personalization business that mixes wooden boxes, leather patches and stainless tags or tumblers, it avoids buying a separate fiber galvo, and the large bed lets you lay out a whole batch of metal tags at once.
Skip if you
The 10W diode is the weakest cutter in the P3 range, so plywood and acrylic cuts are slow and limited. The 2W infrared source marks metal surfaces but will not deep-engrave or cut it, and a fiber galvo marks much faster. Owners mention basic software and a weak stock exhaust fan; plastics fumes in particular need ducting outside.
Pros
- One head engraves wood with the diode and bare metal with the 2W infrared, switched with a button
- Infrared spot of 0.02 × 0.02 mm per Acmer for very fine marks on tags, jewelry and tools
- Same enclosed cabinet, camera and 400 × 390 mm bed as the cutting versions
Cons
- Cutting is limited: 10 mm plywood is Acmer's maximum and 3 mm basswood is slow
- $234 more than the 24W Basic Pack for buyers who do not need metal

Practical notes
Beginner notes
This profile is the dual-laser version of the Acmer P3. Choose it if engraving metal (tags, tumblers, tools, jewelry) matters as much as wood; compare the other P3 versions with the chips above if cutting is your priority. Use the diode for wood, leather and slate, and the infrared source for bare metal and dark plastics: one source runs at a time.
Pro tips
On stainless steel, several fast infrared passes give a cleaner, darker mark than one slow pass. Clean the part with alcohol first: fingerprints show in IR marks. Keep air assist on for wood with the diode and focus carefully for the infrared source, whose small spot is less forgiving of height errors.

Common questions
What can the infrared laser on the P3 engrave?
Acmer lists gold, silver, copper, aluminum, iron and stainless steel, plus dark plastics such as ABS and PC, opaque acrylic, leather and stone. The marks are surface marks: good for logos, serial numbers and text, not for deep engraving.
2IN1 or infrared-only P3?
The infrared-only P3 was $799 without air pump on Acmer's store in October 2026, against $999 for the 2IN1 Basic Pack. The infrared-only version cannot cut or engrave wood well, so the 2IN1 makes more sense unless you only mark metal and plastics.
Can the P3 2IN1 cut wood?
Lightly. Acmer gives 10 mm plywood, 8 mm black acrylic and 3 mm MDF as maximum thicknesses with several passes. For regular cutting, a stronger diode module on the same cabinet, or the cutting-oriented P3 versions, will save a lot of time.
