Common questions
What does the B1 40W cut?
Longer's spec sheet claims 25 mm basswood in one pass and 50 mm acrylic maximum. In our benchmarks a 10 × 10 cm square in 3 mm basswood takes about 6–10 min at 5–14 mm/s, and basswood up to about 10 mm is realistic in passes with air assist. Clear acrylic remains out of reach.
Does the 40W lose engraving detail?
A little. Longer lists a 0.1 × 0.15 mm spot for the 40W against 0.08 × 0.1 mm for the 20W and 30W, so small text and portraits look slightly softer. Fills are much faster though, about 80–180 mm/s in our tests.
B1 40W or B1 30W?
On Longer's store in October 2026 the basic sets were $699.99 (40W) and $569.99 (30W), a $130 gap. Take the 40W if you cut 6 mm stock or thicker every week; take the 30W if engraving detail matters as much as cutting.
