TL;DR

The Sculpfun V12 is a 12W UV galvo launched in August 2026, the big brother of the 5W V5. It ships with a 70 × 70 mm lens for fine work and 3D engraving inside crystal, and a 200 × 200 mm lens for everyday marking, on a motorized Z column with dual red-dot focusing. UV marks plastics, glass, metals, wood and paper with little heat. At $5,499 and 26.7 kg it is a business machine; no independent review yet.

What makes this machine stand out

Hardware and workflow features worth understanding before you buy : not just wattage on a label.

  • Two field lenses included

A 70 × 70 mm lens concentrates energy for fine detail and crystal, a 200 × 200 mm lens covers larger items; both come in the box.

  • 3D engraving inside crystal

With the short lens and Sculpfun's PC software, the V12 engraves 3D models inside crystal blocks, raising the head as it goes.

Our verdict

Ideal if you

The V12 packs 12W of 355 nm UV, two field lenses and motorized focusing into one desktop unit, so a single machine covers crystal, glass, plastics, packaging and fine metal detail. It is one of the most powerful UV galvos sold to small businesses at this price.

Skip if you

It is heavy, costs more than many CO₂ lasers and cuts nothing useful. The galvo is open, Sculpfun's speed and spot figures are inconsistent or optimistic, and there is no independent review yet to confirm them.

Pros

  • Two field lenses in the box: 70 × 70 mm for fine work and crystal, 200 × 200 mm for everyday marking
  • Motorized Z column with dual red-dot focusing and a preset button for each lens
  • 355 nm cold marking handles plastics, glass and clear acrylic that fiber and diode lasers struggle with

Cons

  • $5,499 and 26.7 kg: a business purchase, $2,300 more than the 5W V5
  • Sculpfun's own figures disagree (10,000 mm/s in the spec list, 15,000 mm/s on the product images), and the 0.0019 mm spot is a marketing number
  • Open galvo with no enclosure: UV light needs proper eye protection and fume extraction on plastics

Practical notes

Beginner notes

UV is the most versatile marking laser, but it marks rather than cuts and costs several times more than a diode. Pick the V12 if your business is personalised glass, crystal, plastic parts or very fine detail on metal. For crystal subsurface engraving you need the 70 mm lens and Sculpfun's PC software, not the app.

Pro tips

Swap lenses only with the machine off and use the matching focus button afterwards. Start crystal jobs with Sculpfun's sample parameters and the supplied crystal pillars before buying blanks in bulk. Extract fumes when marking PVC or other plastics, and keep separate parameter libraries for each lens.

Common questions

Can the Sculpfun V12 engrave inside crystal?

Yes, according to Sculpfun: 3D subsurface engraving works with the 70 × 70 mm field lens and Sculpfun's PC software, and the motorized Z raises the head layer by layer. Two crystal pillars come in the box for first tests.

V12 or V5: is the extra $2,300 worth it?

On Sculpfun's store in October 2026 the V12 is $5,499 against $3,199 for the 5W V5. The V12 brings 12W instead of 5W, a 200 × 200 mm lens instead of 150 × 150 mm and colour marking on metal. Take it if UV marking is daily paid work; for occasional crystal gifts the V5 costs much less.

Can a UV laser cut acrylic or wood?

Not in any practical sense. Sculpfun lists cutting among the V12's capabilities, but at 12W a UV galvo only cuts thin films, paper and labels. For acrylic or plywood parts you need a CO₂ or a strong diode.

ComMarker Omni X UV laser engraver by ComMarker

ComMarker · UV · $3,599 – $7,059

ComMarker Omni X uses UV wavelength for cold marking on glass, some plastics, and delicate materials without as much heat damage as fiber or CO₂. Slower than fiber on metal: different tool for different materials.

ComMarker Omni XE UV laser engraver by ComMarker

ComMarker · UV · $3,299 – $6,789

Omni XE sits between Omni 1 and Omni X in ComMarker's UV lineup: check current specs for bed size and power. UV remains specialized: glass, plastics, fine detail.

Creality Falcon T1 5W UV laser engraver by Creality

Creality · UV · $3,999

The 5W UV WaveSync module targets materials diode and fiber struggle with: glass, some films, and heat-sensitive plastics. Install on the same Falcon T1 enclosure when your shop adds UV jobs after wood or metal modules.
