TL;DR

Ortur H20 40W is Ortur's strongest H-series diode: multi-diode compression for deeper cuts in wood and faster fills. Premium price; compare to Longer B1 40W and Atomstack A40 before buying.

What makes this machine stand out

Hardware and workflow features worth understanding before you buy : not just wattage on a label.

  • Autofocus

Ortur fits autofocus only on the 40W module of the H20, which saves time when switching between materials of different thickness.

  • Serious cutting in an enclosure

3 mm basswood squares in about 6–10 min in our benchmarks, with around 10 mm reachable in passes.

  • Air pump included

Ortur bundles a free air pump with the 40W module.

Our verdict

Ideal if you

The 40W diode module is the most cut-focused head on Ortur H20: thicker basswood and faster fills than entry modules on the same chassis.

Skip if you

Overkill if you only do fine engraving. Still a diode: clear cast acrylic means CO₂. Plan glasses and exhaust if the chassis is open-frame.

Pros

  • Autofocus, unique to this module in the H20 range
  • Cuts 3 mm basswood squares in ~6–10 min, the fastest H20 result in our benchmarks
  • Only H20 power still in stock on Ortur's US store in October 2026

Cons

  • Smaller working area with this module: 410 × 275 mm per Ortur
  • Wider ~0.10 × 0.11 mm spot: photo detail is softer than on the lower modules
  • $1,909 at Ortur, $2,099–2,399 on our tracked listings

Practical notes

Beginner notes

This profile is the 40W SKU on Ortur H20. Read the TL;DR and benchmarks above, then compare other modules via the chips before buying.

Pro tips

Treat engraving and cutting as separate profiles on the H20. Push cut speeds only after test squares on your material. Compare CO₂ only when clear acrylic or all-day production enters the picture.

Common questions

What does the 40W module add on the H20?

Autofocus (the other H20 modules are focused by hand), a compressed 40W diode and the fastest cutting of the range. In October 2026 Ortur listed it at $1,909 with a free air pump, and $2,548 with the added 2W IR module; it was the only H20 power still in stock on the US store.

How thick can the H20 40W cut?

In our benchmarks a 10 × 10 cm square in 3 mm basswood takes about 6–10 min at 4–10 mm/s. Basswood up to about 10 mm and 5 mm acrylic (dark) are realistic in passes. Ortur calls it ideal for thick cutting but publishes no thickness figures.

Is the 40W worth it if I mostly engrave?

Not really. It fills fast (~60–150 mm/s in our tests), but its ~0.10 × 0.11 mm spot is wider than the lower modules', and Ortur's 20W bundle was about $530 cheaper. Take the 40W if cutting 6–10 mm stock is a weekly job.

Ortur Laser Master H10 40W laser engraver by Ortur

Ortur · Diode · $649 – $899

Ortur does not sell an H10 40W: its H10 page offers 10W and 20W modules only, and the separate LU3-40A 40W module is listed for the LM3 and F10, not the H10. This profile covers listings that pair the H10 frame with a 40W module. Treat it as an unofficial configuration and get the seller to confirm compatibility and warranty in writing.

Longer Laser B1 40W laser engraver by Longer

Longer · Diode · $699 – $949

Longer Laser B1 40W is the 40W SKU on the Longer longer laser b1 line. Longer's large-format B1 20W diode: this profile is the 20W SKU only; Longer also sells 30W and 40W B1 machines separately. Verify optical power on the listing: do not assume combined-watt marketing.

Atomstack A40 Pro 40W laser engraver by Atomstack

Atomstack · Diode · $399 – $599

Atomstack A40 Pro 40W is the 40W SKU on the Atomstack atomstack a40 pro line. Step up from A5 Pro with a stiffer frame and stronger cutting marketing (40W combined). Verify optical power on the listing: do not assume combined-watt marketing.
