What does Ortur claim the LM3 20W cuts in one pass?
Ortur's page shows one-pass demo cuts in 15 mm pine, 10 mm plywood and 8 mm black acrylic. Those are demos, not guaranteed maxima. In our benchmarks a 10 × 10 cm square in 3 mm basswood takes about 5–8 min at 3–10 mm/s, and around 8 mm basswood is a realistic everyday limit.
Which LM3 20W set should I buy?
In October 2026 Ortur listed the 20W Basic set at $639.99 (with a free Air Pump 1.0), the Pro set at $719.98, the Rotary set at $839.97, the Extended set at $929.96 and the All-in-1 set at $1,399.99. The Extended set raises the working length to about 850 mm according to Ortur.
Is the 20W worth twice the price of the LM3 10W?
If you cut, yes: for about $340 more it cuts our 3 mm square in about a third less time (5–8 min against 8–12 min) and fills at ~70–150 mm/s instead of 20–42 mm/s. Ortur also advertises colour marking on stainless steel with this module. For engraving-only work on wood and leather, the 10W is enough.
